Milner considers England future under Allardyce
Liverpool midfielder James Milner is considering his international future with England after claiming it was pointless to take up a squad space if he wasn’t going to feature.
Milner played less than ten minutes during Euro 2016 where England were defeated in the last 16 by Iceland.
The 30-year-old has 61 caps for his country and this summer was his fourth major tournament but he’s made just seven starts at major finals.
“I will have to speak to Sam (Allardyce) and see what is happening,” Milner told the Liverpool Echo.
“Over the last couple of years with the England team I have not featured, I haven’t played in either of the last two tournaments.
“I am at a place where it is pointless me being there if I am not going to play.”

England’s poor tournament saw the end of Roy Hodgson’s tenure as manager and saw the introduction of new boss Sam Allardyce, a man Milner has a lot of respect for.
“I am happy it is Sam as I know I can have a good conversation with him and it will be honest,” he added.
“I think having worked with Sam, I know what he is like as a manager and as a person.
“I really enjoyed working with him. You can only take someone how they are with you and I thought he was great – a brilliant man-manager, who looked after the players and the staff.”
