No better banter than at Burnley

Steven Defour is arriving in the friendliest dressing room in the Premier League, according to Burnley defender Ben Mee.

The Belgian midfielder arrived at Turf Moor on Tuesday, becoming the club’s fourth signing this summer, and Mee says the team spirit has made the new arrivals feel right at home.

Mee said: “We accept the new players in really well. We’ve got a good group of lads that have been here for a long time.

“The new lads that have come in, Johann [Berg Gudmundsson] and Popey [Nick Pope] have really settled in really well.

“He [Steven Defour] seems a good lad and we look forward to him joining the squad.

“It’s been a good dressing room for a good few years and it’d be hard to find a better dressing room than what we’ve got and I’m sure he’ll fit in comfortably.”

The new signings at Turf Moor supplement a squad that has been surprisingly stable over the past couple of years. Mee is one of 14 squad members who were present during the Claret’s last stint in the Premier League in 2014-15.

But despite their familiarity with the competition, the 26 year old says the squad are having to get used to the top flight schedule following a hectic Championship season.

“It’s not coming at you rapid fire like a Championship season is. You can sort of build up towards a game. It’s different but we’re adapting and it’s nice to have that training time to build up to a game and focus on it,” Mee said.
