Reds sweating on Coutinho fitness for Spurs clash

Philippe Coutinho is a late injury concern for Liverpool as they prepare for their Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.

The Brazilian playmaker bagged a brace in the Reds’ dramatic 4-3 win over Arsenal on the opening weekend of the season but did not have his shooting boots for their defeat to Burnley a week later and twinged his hamstring.

The No.10 did not feature for Jurgen Klopp’s side as they downed Burton Albion 5-0 in the EFL Cup earlier this week, due to what the club have described as a ‘muscle issue’.

And ahead of the trip to White Hart Lane, Klopp is not interested in taking any risks with the diminutive Brazilian.

“The muscle was a little stiff. He felt something so we didn’t want to take a risk [against Burton].

“We left him out of training until now. We have to make a decision on Friday with what we can do with him.

“It is not a situation to take any risk. We have to talk to the player.

“From the medical side, it is not a big issue, but it was big enough to leave him out of the squad for Burton.”
