Chester sold West Brom to Robson-Kanu
James Chester left West Bromwich Albion for Aston Villa this summer, but that did not stop striker Hal Robson-Kanu questioning his Wales team-mate about life in the Hawthorns before agreeing to join Tony Pulis’ squad.
Robson-Kanu has been a free agent since his contract with Reading terminated at the end of last season but, after a stellar European Championships there was plenty of interest in securing his signature.
Seemingly in a position of strength, the 27-year-old bided his time before opting to sign a two-year deal with West Brom on Wednesday.

But Robson-Kanu revealed he spoke with Chester – who spent a season with the Baggies – first, before signing.
“It’s good to have someone who knows about a new club to tell you about it and James spoke highly about Albion,” said Robson-Kanu, who scored three goals in 28 Championship appearances last term.
“And I’ve got no worries about my fitness.
“I’m a fit lad and I’ll be more than confident when called upon.
“It’s about the group, the squad being successful and I am really looking forward to playing my part.”
