Choosing Everton was simple for Calvert-Lewin
The opportunities given to young players at Everton made the decision to sign for the Merseyside club an easy one, according to striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
In a dream few weeks, Calvert-Lewin has also been called up to the England under-20s squad where he scored in a 2-1 friendly defeat to Brazil in Kidderminster.
The 19-year-old signed a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee from Sheffield United at the end of August and will link up with David Unsworth’s under-23s squad at the Toffees.
The former Everton defender has played a key role in Calvert-Lewin’s development to date having worked previously for the Blades.
“The move was a no-brainer for me,” the striker said.
“You’ve only got to look at the opportunities that are given to young players here and also the quality of players that are here as well.
“Those are things that appeal to me as a 19-year-old player, you can’t ask for more. Obviously, hard work pays off and now I’m looking for a chance to show what I can do here.
“David Unsworth has played a massive role [in moving to Everton]. I know ‘Unsy’ from at my previous club, I know what a good manager he is and he can help me improve as a player and a person.”
