Heaton excited by impact of Burnley’s new signings

England goalkeeper Tom Heaton believes new signings Patrick Bamford and Jeff Hendrick will both provide a huge boost on the field for Burnley this season.

Striker Bamford has been signed on a season-long, his sixth spell away from parent club Chelsea since 2012, while Hendrick was a club record signing from Derby County.

The Republic of Ireland midfielder arrived from Derby for £10.5m before the transfer windowclosed and will help manager Sean Dyche fill the hole left by Joey Barton’s departure to Rangers.

Heaton is confident both players will make their mark sooner rather than later in a Burnley shirt as they prepare to face fellow Premier League new boys Hull City this weekend.

“We have all seen Bamford’s quality over the last few years,” he said.

“He’s a Chelsea academy graduate I’ve been training with him today and it looks like he has great ability, he smashed one past me.

“I think it’s a great singing for the club I think he’ll have a real impact and look to score some goals

“With Jeff Hendrick coming in, he obviously had a fantastic Euros and has been a very good player for Derby over the past few years.

“I think he’s at a great time in his career and it’s a great coup for the club.”
