Luiz targets Chelsea silverware
David Luiz’s remarkable return to Chelsea may have been the story of deadline day and the Brazilian defender insists he expects to compete for trophies from the off.
The Blues sold Luiz to Paris-Saint Germain in 2014 for £50m, but bought him back yesterday for £32m after he lost his place at the French champions.
Luiz won the Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup during his time at Stamford Bridge and continued that success in France with back-to-back league titles.
But while Luiz was enjoying a dominant campaign last season, Chelsea limped to 10th in the Premier League in a disastrous year which saw Jose Mourinho lose his job.
“This is the past. We need to win again. I have the hunger to win. Of course I want to win the Premier League and of course I want to win all the titles again,” said Luiz.

“I am here because I have ambition to play for a big club, and when you play for a big club you need to think about winning every single match.”
Luiz will compete with John Terry, Gary Cahill and Kurt Zouma for a centre-back berth, as Antonio Conte looks to build a solid defence.
The 29-year-old was a fan favourite at Stamford Bridge in his first spell, and can’t wait to pull on the blue shirt after the international break.
“I’m very happy to be here again,” he said.
“It’s fantastic to have this second opportunity to play for this club. I love this club so that’s why I am here. Let’s try to continue the nice history with a lot of joy and try to get success.
“It will be an amazing opportunity to show to the fans again how I love this club and how I love to play for this club. I cannot wait to wear the shirt and play at Stamford Bridge again.”
