Manchester City won’t tire, insists Kolarov

With five Premier League games played and Manchester City already looking unstoppable defender Aleksandar Kolarov has warned their title rivals to expect no let up.

City are the only team left in the top flight with a 100 per cent winning record and sit two points clear of Everton at the summit.

They are also the league’s top-scorers having most recently put four goals past Bournemouth to take their tally to 15.

The City players have adapted remarkably quickly to manager Pep Guardiola’s very definite playing style that brought him great success at Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

But Kolarov says their high octane approach will not lead to the players losing form due to fatigue when the fixtures begin to pile up.

“We won’t burn out,” said the 30-year-old, who has been converted from a full-back to a central defender in the early weeks of the season.

“The reason is that the training sessions are so well planned.

“Just like we always talk more about strikers than defenders, it is the same when you talk about a manager doing great things.

“This is the best team I have worked with and it doesn’t get mentioned a lot.

“It starts in the office and reaches the pitch. It is why we look so mentally sharp.”
