Toffees’ trio settling in quickly

Everton were left frustrated on transfer deadline day, but manager Ronald Koeman is still smiling as he looks at how quickly three new signings have settled into life at Goodison Park.

The Toffees were gazumped by Tottenham in their pursuit of Moussa Sissoko in the 13th hour of the summer transfer window, but Koeman had already done plenty of business.

He and the club had already made moves and brought in Yannick Bolasie, Ashley Williams and Idrissa Gueye.

The trio arrived last month from Crystal Palace, Swansea City and Aston Villa respectively and have helped Everton make an unbeaten start to Koeman’s first campaign in charge.

Enner Valencia has since arrived on loan from West Ham to bolster ranks, and Dutchman Koeman is hoping he can fit in just as quickly.

“They [the new players] have settled in very well,” he said.

“[How fast players settle] depends on the atmosphere in the club and the adaptation of the players is really going fast.

“Of course, for the players by themselves, it’s sometimes difficult [to adapt] and that little understanding that you need with your teammates, they still need to improve that.

“They [also need to] learn the way we play, what we like and what we want from each player and each position.

“That can be a bit different to what they are used to but they’ll get the time, they’re all good players and they are really settled in the club at the moment.”
