Dann desperate for defensive improvements after Palace return

Scott Dann made his return from injury on Saturday and the defender insists he and his teammates have much to improve on.

The centre back was part of a Crystal Palace side that shipped four goals to the high-flying Reds in a dramatic 4-2 defeat at Selhurt Park.

Dann had been out since his side’s EFL Cup defeat to Southampton back in December and is eager to make up for lost time.

But admits the defeat to Liverpool was not the way he had hoped his return would play out.

“I felt ok fitness wise but disappointed with a couple of the goals and we’ve got to defend better as a team defensively and against the top teams like Liverpool you can’t give them goals like we did,” he said.

“I am massively disappointed with the way that the result went and the goals that we conceded, it’s a difficult one to take.

“They started really well and we never got a foothold in the game, fortunately from our point of view James McCarthy got us back in the game twice.

“We never had too much of the ball in the first half but in the second we started a lot better and were pushing. We had a couple of penalty shouts and were still in the game at 3-2 but to concede the fourth, which was really bad to concede, that killed us.

“The momentum switched again and the game was gone.”
