Dier: Spurs’ slump will turn around in no time

Tottenham are without a win in their last five games in all competitions but Eric Dier insists it is only a matter of time before they break out of their slump.

Last weekend’s draw with Leicester City preserved their unbeaten start to the Premier League season but they have now drawn three on the spin.

And Dier – who is currently playing at centre back alongside Jan Vertonghen – is confident Spurs are on the verge of a hot streak.

“We’re playing well and it’s just a matter of time before it all comes together,” he said.

“We need to kill off games but this is football, we know what we have to do, we just have to do it.”

“We controlled from start to finish and we know Leicester’s style so we’re disappointed, we didn’t create enough clear-cut chances or score enough goals.

“We’ve got to stop talking about it and start doing something about it.

“It’s irrelevant to talk about it now. Every chance they had came from us and we have to limit the mistakes we make, because it led to their chances.

“We’ll keep playing, keep improving the way we play and try to get better and try to start winning games because we’re drawing too many.”

Next up for Spurs is a Champions League re-match at Wembley with Bayer Leverkusen before the first North London derby of the season at the Emirates on Sunday.

“This is a big week for us,” added Dier. “Bayer Leverkusen is a massive game. We have two home matches left in the Champions League (Leverkusen and CSKA Moscow) and we have to win them both.

“We’re still unbeaten in the Premier League, we’re positive and looking forward to the week.”
