Dyche fears Burnley’s promotion can’t be repeated
Burney manager Sean Dyche fears that Championship teams will be unable to repeat his side’s feat of getting promoted on such a meagre budget.
The Clarets returned to the Premier League at the first time of asking last season with a game to spare.
And Dyche has made a strong start to this new campaign, his second attempt at the Premier League, with two wins and a draw in his opening seven games.
But he doesn’t believe teams will be able to dominate England’s second tier ever again without spending decent money.
“People told me three years ago that it was impossible for Burnley to get promoted because we had taken the annual wage bill down below £10m,” he said.

“But we did it and I don’t think it will ever be done again on that kind of budget. We achieved something together which others thought was impossible.”
And the Burnley manager admitted it was pointless comparing Burnley’s spending against the likes of Premier League superpowers in Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea.
“We don’t judge ourselves in that market,” Dyche added.
“Don’t get me wrong, when we play them we will always take on the challenge over 90 minutes.
“We don’t judge ourselves against them. You aspire to be like clubs such as City and United – and usually that takes a lot of money. This club just can’t afford to get there.”
