Gunners boss Wenger eager to see more Ozil goals
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was quick to praise Mesut Ozil’s sumptuous volley on Saturday, but admits he wants to see more goals from the midfield maestro.
The German international scored his third goal of the season in stunning fashion as the Gunners defeated Swansea City at the Emirates on what was the playmaker’s 28th birthday.
That followed strikes against Watford and Chelsea already this term, but Wenger wants to see Ozil’s prowess in front of goal more often, starting at home to Middlesbrough this weekend.
“Mesut has that in the locker you know,” Wenger said. “When you see him finish like that, you think ‘Come on my friend – do it more often!’ because in training he scores, it’s very difficult to read for the keepers and he scores when he wants.
“And we want him to take more opportunities. There was an opportunity in the first half where he didn’t even hit the ball well and after he scores a fantastic goal.
“I think it’s coming. It’s coming and I hope these kind of goals give him the taste to do more. He has celebrated his birthday in a great way.”
