King: Cherries headed in right direction
Joshua King is confident Bournemouth are headed in the right direction in the Premier League, and admits he is relishing the battle for places in Eddie Howe’s starting line-up.
The Cherries have lost only one league game since mid-August, against Manchester City on September 17, and currently sit 13th in the table heading into the international break.
Since Jack Wilshere’s arrival at Dean Court from Arsenal at the start of the season, competition for starting positions is even fiercer, but that, according to Norwegian international King, is the opportunity every player wants.
“We beat Everton last week and we came away from Watford with a draw so the club and the players are taking big steps,” he said.
“We’re learning and we’re getting better every week.
“Jack was unlucky not to score [against Watford] but that’s a luxury problem, you want good players in your team, not only on the pitch but who can also come on and assist and score.
“It’s always good to have competition between us, we’ve been training really hard and obviously there is a fight for spaces in the team, but that’s the same at every club.”

The Cherries battled out a 2-2 draw with Watford on Saturday after the Hornets twice came from behind to earn a point.
Having struggled with a hamstring injury in recent weeks, King netted the second of Bournemouth’s goals – his second of the season – and admits he thought he had delivered maximum points for his team.
“The boys and the staff are disappointed. We think we have let ourselves down, we came in to get three points and we should have got that,” he said.
“It was good to get a goal for myself, I was injured last week so it was good to come off the bench and score. I thought we had won it then but that’s football and the game isn’t over until the final whistle.
“I’ve started alright this season, I feel fit even though I’ve had to take precautions over the last week because I could feel my hamstring but I’m back fully fit.”
