Leicester’s Albrighton relief at putting injury woes to bed
Marc Albrighton has had his career reinvigorated at Leicester City and admits he is relieved to have finally put his injury troubles behind him after making his 150th appearance in the Premier League.
The winger had spent his entire career with Aston Villa and was signed on a free by Leicester City in 2014 after his contract at Villa Park expired.
Leicester had just been promoted from the Championship and two years later Albrighton, with his injury concerns behind him, would play in every game as they won the Premier League.
“I’ve obviously had some good times and some bad times during those 150 games,” he said.
“Obviously last year was one of the highs and to be able to have played in every game of that title winning season is something I’m very proud of.
“I had a spell where I struggled with injuries at Villa and when I came here.
“It was horrible not knowing if I was going to come off the pitch without an injury some weeks but I feel I have put that behind me and touch wood that’s all done with now and I can concentrate on playing as many games as possible.”
Albrighton came off the bench in the Foxes 1-1 draw with Tottenham yesterday and said he loves being part of the club.
“It’s a great place to play, the team and the squad are fantastic. Everyone wants to work for each and that’s what a team sport is all about,” he added.
“You need to be able to play as a team that’s how you get the results and I feel like that’s something we have in abundance here and I’m enjoying every minute of it.”
