There hasn’t been much to celebrate for West Ham United this season, especially at home, but with bottom side Sunderland visiting the London Stadium this weekend Pedro Obiang has stated the importance of getting a win.

The Hammers climbed out of the Premier League relegation zone with a win over Crystal Palace, last weekend, but with just two victories all season, Obiang is keen to get on a roll.

Struggling Sunderland are without a win this campaign, and the Spaniard – who has made eight appearances in a West Ham shirt this season – sees the fixture as an ideal opportunity to pick up points.

“It is very important that we start winning at London Stadium,” said the 24-year-old. “We know that Sunderland will be a difficult game.

“But we need to carry on this good performance into the game on Saturday and if we show this kind of character we can win more games.

“We have to keep this mentality. We need to do something different this season. We all know the start to the season has not been what we were looking for.

“But we have changed things around and all the players came together at the right time to get a result.”
