Son honoured to follow in footsteps of top Spurs alumni
In-form forward Heung-Min Son says he is humbled to now be mentioned in the same breath as some of Tottenham Hotspur’s biggest names from the Premier League era after being named the division’s player of the month for September.
The 24-year-old scored twice in the wins at both Stoke City and Middlesbrough while his tireless display leading the line against Manchester City in the continued absence of the injured Harry Kane saw Pep Guardiola’s men beaten for the first time this season.
Other former Spurs stars to win the award include Jurgen Klinsmann, Ledley King and Gareth Bale.

Son, the first Asian player to win the award, said: “I think the Spurs players who have won it before are big names, legends for Tottenham and it’s nice to be there also.
“I can’t believe this, it’s unbelievable feeling for me to get the award.
“It was a great month for me but I’m also very grateful for my team-mates, the gaffer and his coaching staff. It’s just a great feeling.
“I want to enjoy this moment but this is not the end for me, I want to work hard and try to win the award again.”
