Arsenal boss Wenger aware of Rashford threat

Manchester United may be without Zlatan Ibrahimovic against Arsenal on Saturday, but Arsene Wenger says Marcus Rashford is as equally dangerous.

The Gunners arrived at Old Trafford in February last season as title favourites before they fell to a 3-2 defeat to their old rivals, with Rashford scoring twice in four first-half minutes.

Arsenal look strong again this season, with seven wins from their last nine Premier League games putting them just two points off leaders Liverpool.

United, by contrast, have struggled and Jose Mourinho has a selection headache against the Gunners.

Ibrahimovic, their first-choice striker, is suspended but with Rashford set to move down the middle, Wenger is not taking anything for granted.

“Look, certainly they would prefer to have him but, let’s not forget, last year the guy who killed us was Rashford. So let’s not speculate on any weakness of Man United,” he said.

“Yes of course [Rashford was a surprise] but to me less because I watched him against a Danish team [earlier that week] and he scored and I could see straight away that this guy could be dangerous.

“On crosses his movement was good, the way he moved in the box was strong. He took everyone by surprise because no-one knew him in England.”
