Arsenal’s Lucas happy to battle for his spot
After making just three Premier League appearances this season Lucas Perez admits that the competition in Arsenal’s squad is fierce and is pushing the team to new levels.
Perez joined from Deportivo de La Coruña for £17.1 million but has failed to make himself a regular for Arsene Wenger’s side.
With Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott, Olivier Giroud and Perez all jostling for position in attack, it is easy to see why the 28-year-old Spaniard is yet to take the league by storm.
And the man himself says the talent in Arsenal’s ranks has to be seen to be believed.
“There is plenty of competition to get one spot in the line up, which is great for the team,” he said

“Not only the strikers are fighting for a place, but also defenders or midfielders. Our squad is hungry to play and you can see that in every training.
“I already knew Alexis very well, I’ve seen him play a lot for his club and country. He is quick, skilful on the ball and a great guy. He is very kind and I have an excellent relationship with him. I hope we can go on like this.
“Giroud is a real extrovert and funny guy. He has been really nice with me from the very first day. He is a great striker. He protects the ball with his body superbly and offers many solutions to his team-mates.”
