Ayew hoping to bring extra quality to misfiring West Ham

Andre Ayew has hardly played for West Ham United since joining this summer, but the striker insists he does not need time to adjust to the Hammers’ playing style, now he is fully fit.

The 26-year-old, a £20million signing from Swansea City, has missed the majority of the campaign so far with a groin injury but made his second start of the league season against Stoke City on Saturday.

The Hammers have ensured a frustrating start to the season and have a series of tough fixtures on the horizon against the likes of Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.

But Ayew, a Ghana international, insists he can help the squad climb the Premier League table quickly.

“The fitness is coming back. I am not yet at my best, but it’s only with games that I will get back to my best,” he said.

“It was a very important injury [that I suffered], but I am getting back and hopefully pretty soon I will be at 100 per cent.

“I more or less know the team and how we want to play, so now it’s about me getting 100 per cent fit and after that I can bring my quality to the squad.

“I am very confident and we have great players in the team and great management so hopefully everything will be OK very soon.”
