Dyche unable to explain Burnley’s Hawthorns run
Burnley boss Sean Dyche denies he is superstitious but even he must be wondering how his side haven’t won three points away in the league at West Brom since 1969.
The Clarets suffered another Hawthorns nightmare on Monday night as Matt Phillips, James Morrison and Darren Fletcher gave the Baggies a 3-0 lead inside 40 minutes.
Salomon Rondon added a fourth in the second half to move West Brom up to ninth in the Premier League table whereas Burnley have just one away point from a possible 15.
And Dyche was at a loss to explain his side’s poor performance at the Hawthorns.
“I’m not superstitious at all but I broke my leg here as a 17-year-old when I was at Nottingham Forest and it nearly cost me my career,” he explained.

“Thankfully it didn’t and I’m here now as manager of Burnley in the Premier League. But I’ve never won since. It’s one of those strange things.
“That can’t affect the result, but even my psychology, deep down, I’m thinking ‘surely I’m due one. Surely I’m due something from this place,’ but unfortunately not.
“As soon as the whistle blew it was one of those strange things when you can almost sense it. We were miles off our performance level and you can’t do that in the Premier League.”
