Maguire keen for Hull stay

Hull City may be struggling at the wrong end of the Premier League table but defender Harry Maguire insists he is desperate to stay at the club and prove his worth.

The 29-year-old has been key for Mike Phelan’s side, who are starting to show signs of form after a worrying string of results.

The Tigers won their first two games this season before a run of six straight Premier League defeats, which left them in deep trouble in the relegation zone.

But victory against Southampton and a draw with West Brom has boosted Hull’s survival hopes, and Maguire is keen to sign a new contract despite a difficult few months – which saw former manager Steve Bruce leave the club.

“There has been bits and bobs between my agent and the chairman, not too much but hopefully in the coming months it will get sorted,” Maguire said

“As a footballer, I want to play every week. I want to play regular football but you also want the security of the length of the contract.

“As you know, I am going into the last six months of the contract so hopefully something can be sorted.”
