Wickham set to miss rest of Crystal Palace season with knee injury
Crystal Palace striker Connor Wickham is likely to miss the rest of the season after injuring his knee in the Eagles’ 5-4 defeat to Swansea.
Wickham damaged his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) when trying to block a cross in the game in Saturday’s clash in south Wales.
He was taken off, and left the stadium on crutches.
And Palace fans’ fears have been confirmed with the news that Wickham, who has scored twice in the league this season, needs surgery on his damaged knee.

The club has not confirmed a time frame for Wickham’s return, but ACL injuries historically rule players out for a minimum of six months.
The 23-year-old frontman has had an injury-plagued Palace career after joining from Sunderland in 2015 for £9 million.
He has been restricted to 28 Premier League appearances for the Eagles, scoring seven goals.
His most memorable moment in a Palace shirt to date was when he netted the winning goal on Palace’s 2-1 FA Cup semi final win over Watford in April.
“Everyone at the club wishes Connor a speedy recovery and we look forward to seeing him back in action as soon as possible,” a Crystal Palace statement said.
Palace are hovering precariously above the Premier League relegation zone in 17th, with 11 points from 13 matches, and have lost the last six league games.
