Cook after Cherries response against Swans

Bournemouth were well-beaten by Chelsea last time out but defender Steve Cook has called for an immediate response against struggling Swansea.

The Cherries went down 3-0 at Stamford Bridge to the league leaders, their ninth loss of the Premier League season in 18 games.

Eddie Howe’s team have only managed one win on their travels to date this term, and will finish 2016 at the Liberty Stadium against a Swansea team who were thrashed 4-1 on home soil by West Ham on Boxing Day.

And Cook is only too aware of how important the game will be in terms of Bournemouth’s entire season, as they look to ease away from the scrap for survival and push for a top half finish.

That would be a huge step for the Cherries in only their second season in the Premier League, but Cook admits that the team has not always performed in these sorts of games in the past.

He said: “It’s pivotal, it’s a huge game for us. It can define our season and I’d go as far as to say it’s a must-win game for us.

“These are the games we’ve faltered on in previous games and we need to get that right.

“We need to go there and be positive; take the game to them and keep them in the bottom three, pushing ourselves back up.”
