Donald is Loving Sunderland backroom staff

After three games in a week, Sunderland defender Donald Love admits his side owe a debt of gratitude to the Black Cats medical staff.

After defeats to Swansea and Chelsea, David Moyes’ side bounced back to beat Watford last weekend and climb to 18th in the table.

They only sit one point off Crystal Palace outside the drop zone and former Manchester United defender Love insists the squad are fighting fit and targeting more success in the busy Christmas period.

“Credit to the medical staff because we got the players back,” Love said.

“The lads have played three 90 minutes in the space of a week and I think I was one of the only ones with cramp at the end which was a bit embarrassing.

“The lads did well though and got through the game with no serious injuries.

“It’s great to be back and help the lads to their second Premier League clean sheet of the season. We defended well from the front with Jermain (Defoe) and all the lads worked together.

“It’s beginning to come together.”
