Hendrick urges Burnley to keep foot on the gas
Burnley may have enjoyed a dream first half of the Premier League season but midfielder Jeff Hendrick has warned his teammates they must kick on in 2017.
The Clarets suffered relegation two years ago but stormed to victory in the Championship last season, as Sean Dyche steered them back in the top flight at the first time of asking.
And this season Burnley look a different beast, winning six home games so far – leaving them 14th in the table and six points clear of the relegation zone.

Burnley face Sunderland on New Year’s Eve and Hendrick wants his team to finish 2016 on a high before tackling Manchester City in their first game of the New Year.
“It’s looking good but we’ve got to keep going,” he said.
“We can’t take our foot off the gas. We need to keep picking up points as much as we can and see where that leaves us.
“Every game is big in this league. We take each game as it comes.
“We are here at home again [on New Year’s Eve] and we need to make sure that we get the result that we need. [The win on Boxing Day] gives us confidence going into that game.”
