Mazzarri: Hornets put in best away performance of the season, despite loss
Watford boss Walter Mazzarri claims the Hornets produced their best away performance of the season so far on Saturday, despite falling to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of West Brom.
Despite getting on the scoresheet through Christian Kabasele’s effort from close range, Watford returned to London empty-handed, ending the game with ten men after Roberto Pereyra was dismissed.
Jonny Evans had given the Baggies the lead with his first goal of the season, before Chris Brunt added a second before the break.
Kabasele pulled one back on the hour mark, before Matt Phillips curled in a stoppage-time goal to wrap up the points for the hosts.

But despite the scoreline suggesting otherwise, Mazzarri was quick to praise his players’ efforts.
“We probably played the best football away from home since I arrived here,” he said.
“For sure, we didn’t deserve to lose. Actually, if we deserved something, it was the victory for the way we played.
“I told my players I am very happy with their performance.”
