Moyes not giving up at Sunderland

Sunderland manager David Moyes admitted that Swansea’s emphatic 3-0 victory came as a shock to the system.

After three wins in their previous four games, The Black Cats could be forgiven for thinking they had turned a corner before being hammered by Swansea at the Liberty Stadium.

And after they had hauled themselves temporarily off the foot of the table with their recent purple patch, they’re back there again after this weekend’s action.

But Moyes is not giving up on his men and believes that a few more winning streaks can see his side safe.

“It’s certainly a disappointing day; we didn’t get what we came for,” he said.

“We were in good spirits and confident coming into the game, but we didn’t put that in to action.

“We didn’t really get to grips with the game, we struggled with crossing the ball and we had a number of opportunities in the first half but just didn’t make the most of them.

“We were on the back-foot after going behind and we just never really got back into the game.

“We’ve been on a good run and we’re going to have to go on a number of good runs to be able to climb up the table and get the results we need over the course of the season.”
