Pardew admits to Crystal Palace premonition

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew admitted he had a positive feeling that Fraizer Campbell would get a goal at the weekend and his prediction came true in thrilling fashion.

In a rollercoaster of a game, Palace were 2-1 up at the KCOM Stadium after Christian Benteke and Wilfried Zaha got goals for the visitors.

But Adama Diomande and Jake Livermore scored twice in six minutes to put Hull City 3-2 up before replacement Campbell snatched a point for his side with a late equaliser.

Campbell played 37 times for Hull during the 2007-08 season and Pardew said he could be line for more first-team opportunities after his heroics.

“I said to my staff before the game that I fancied Fraizer to score today but I just wish it wasn’t in those circumstances – I’d have preferred it to be the winning goal,” Pardew said.

“When he came to Hull as a young player some people questioned his mentality and work-rate, but he must have adjusted that because since I’ve been at this football club he’s been a model pro, and his performances in training got him on that pitch today.

“Under me, he hasn’t had much of an opportunity and maybe he will get a few more.”
