Rondon thanks teammates after headed hat-trick
Salomon Rondon may have bagged his first Premier League hat-trick on Wednesday evening in West Brom’s victory over Swansea, but the hitman was quick to pass the praise on to those that assisted him.
The 27-year-old striker, who took his league tally up to seven for the season with his treble, headed home all three goals as the Swans were downed at The Hawthorns.
Rondon’s hat-trick came in just 13 second-half minutes with Swansea swept aside after the break – Matt Phillips and Chris Brunt (twice) providing the killer balls into the box.
And Rondon insists that they were the match-winners rather than him, despite becoming only the second player to score a hat-trick of headers in the Premier League, with former Everton striker Duncan Ferguson the only other to do so.
“I feel very good, the team worked very hard [against Swansea] and crossed it for me very well to allow me to score,” he said.
“I scored a hat-trick, but the most important part of that were the crosses. Matt Phillips and Chris Brunt put the ball in for me and that’s why I was able to score.
“This one of my best moments for the club – my favourite is still my first goal here against Stoke.
“Confidence is very high at the moment as we are playing very well. We just need to stick together and continue play the same way.
“We have a big game this weekend [against Manchester United], and of course I hope I can score again.”
