Burnley squad depth key, says Dyche, as he considers cup clash changes

Burnley have fired themselves into the top half of the Premier League table thanks to their sensational home record, but manager Sean Dyche believes the depth of their squad is the key to keeping them flying high.

The Clarets are tenth in the league having won six of their last seven home matches, including Saturday’s victory over stuttering Southampton.

And manager Dyche is considering ringing the changes for tonight’s FA Cup third round replay with Sunderland at Turf Moor.

However, far from sending out a second string eleven to battle David Moyes’ Black Cats, the 45-year-old believes his squad is strong enough to be utilised when faced with a busy fixture schedule.

“The whole point of us building a squad, a stronger squad, is to use it,” said Dyche.

“I think we’ve got some very good players here. You look at the changes we made at Sunderland and we were still productive.

“I’m not thinking we’re disrespecting the FA Cup or anyone else.

“We will be trying to win a game, without a shadow of a doubt. That’s what our focus is. We still put out a strong side.

“We’ve got a deeper squad and I trust all of them.

“It’s just that I can only pick 11 at a time and generally, I think it’s fair to say, the league form has been strong.

“Therefore, I haven’t messed around so much with the league side, although there have been changes and changes in formation.”
