Captain Morgan wants to get Foxes firing again

Just half a season after shocking the football world and lifting the Premier League trophy, Leicester City are facing a relegation battle and captain Wes Morgan knows how important it is for the Foxes to start scoring again.

Claudio Ranieri’s men have failed to find the net in their last two Premier League fixtures, resulting in 3-0 defeats to Chelsea and Southampton.

Their title-winning season was built on a stingey defence and the goal-scoring prowess of both Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy.

But with just the 14th best defence in the league and the joint-15th best attack, it is no surprise the Foxes find themselves in 15th place, just five points above the drop zone.

But Morgan, a rock in defence during last season, has backed his side to start scoring again, and quickly.

“We’re trying to find the answers and in the last third when we attack, it’s the vital passes that make the difference,” said the former Nottingham Forest man.

“Southampton had that and we didn’t, so we need to go back to the training ground and work hard to continue to try and improve.

“It’s always difficult to just forget the result, but that’s what we’ve got to do. We need points and we need to move up the table.

“We’ll dust ourselves off now and look forward to the next game.”
