Courtois targets big Chelsea lead before crunch Liverpool clash

Diego Costa may have created a storm cloud over Stamford Bridge but goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois insists their comfortable victory at Leicester was a major blow to their title rivals.

Costa has reportedly had his head turned by the money on offer in China, but Chelsea showed no sign of slowing down in the title race as they dismantled Leicester 3-0.

Costa did not feature against the defending champions, with Eden Hazard, Pedro and Willian forming a potent from three and it is unclear when he will return to the team.

But Courtois is not worried and believes the Blues can stretch their lead by the time they face Liverpool at Anfield at the end of the month.

“We just have to take it game by game but the most important thing is for us to go to Anfield with the biggest gap possible,” he said.

“Saturday was a game where, if I’m sitting at home and one of our opponents is playing Leicester away, I’d think they could drop points, so it was very good for us to win the game, and win well.

“Now, at home against Hull we have to get the three points and then go to Anfield with this gap, because anything could happen there.”
