Fletcher would love to repeat FA Cup success with West Brom
Darren Fletcher knows what it takes to win the FA Cup, but the West Brom midfielder is not getting ahead of himself as the Baggies bid to end almost half a century of hurt in the competition.
During his time at Manchester United Fletcher helped the club lift the FA Cup in 2004, starting as Millwall were beaten 3-0 at the Millennium Stadium.
As for West Brom, they have found the going much tougher in the competition and last lifted the famous trophy 49 years ago.
First up in round three this season for the Baggies are Championship high-flyers Derby County, and Scot Fletcher admits it is a long road to Wembley.
“I was lucky enough to win an FA Cup winner’s medal, but it’s a while ago now, back in my first season in the team at Manchester United, 2004, when we beat Millwall,” the 32-year-old said.

“To be able to replicate that in May would be fantastic, but it’s a long road to the final.
“You can’t get ahead of yourself in the cup, that’s the beauty of knock-out football.
“You need a bit of luck with the draw and the bounce of the ball, but most of all, you need to bring out some good performances at the right times.
“And we will need one of those on Saturday”.
