Livermore looking to propel West Brom into seventh heaven

Jake Livermore insists everyone’s sights at West Brom are set on breaking into the top seven of the Premier League.

Last week midfielder Livermore moved from Hull City to West Brom in a £10million deal, swapping a relegation battle for a tussle further up the table.

Eighth-placed Baggies are currently vying with Everton, who sit one spot above them, to be crowned best of the rest this term with the top six the usual culprits.

And Livermore, who spent six years at Tottenham before joining Hull in 2014, is relishing a new challenge at The Hawthorns under manager Tony Pulis.

“He (Pulis) wants to break that mould of the top six, top-seven sides,” said Livermore.

“If it breaks, we want to be in there.

“The club over the last five or six seasons has become very stable and is becoming a team people are really looking at. I’m just delighted to be part of it and hopefully boost our chances of achieving what we want.

“Everyone involved with the club wants to be looking ahead rather than backwards. It shows the progress made in the last few years.

“There’s a different type of pressure now. I’ve been at Tottenham where the goal is top four and if you miss out it’s not good enough.

“I’ve also been at the other end of the table where you need to be out of the bottom four.

“I was well up for a fight this year with Hull, but this opportunity came up and it was one I really fancied.

“We definitely want to be at the right end of the table and hopefully break that mould of the top seven and stamp our authority on the league.”
