Shearer: Leicester City’s Vardy has ‘had his head turned’
Premier League all-time top goalscorer Alan Shearer believes success has gone to the head of Leicester City frontman Jamie Vardy.
Vardy scored 24 goals in the Premier League last season as Leicester secured a surprise title under Claudio Ranieri.
That led to the 30-year-old being nominated for the Ballon d’Or along with the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
However, this season Vardy has scored just five goals in 17 Premier League outings – including a hat-trick against Manchester City.

And former England striker Shearer – who notched 260 Premier League goals in his career – insists Vardy needs to get back to doing what made him such a success last term.
“To me it looks like he’s had his head turned by success,” the Match of the Day pundit said.
“I see him on the front covers of magazines, he’s signed a bumper new contract. But he’s no longer doing what brought him the success last season.
“I know it’s difficult getting to the top, but it’s a lot harder staying there.
“Everyone knows what you’re good at. Everyone knows what your strengths and weaknesses are.
“But you have to do the basics, and Jamie Vardy [and Leicester City] are not doing the basics.”
