Stoke striker Crouch ready to dust off robot moves

Peter Crouch’s robot moves have gone down as one of the most iconic goal celebrations in history, and the Stoke City forward says he may dust off his dancing shoes if he nets against Manchester United on Saturday.

Crouch is one goal away from his 100th in the Premier League, a milestone only 25 others have reached.

Last summer, it looked unlikely the 35-year-old would be in this position – with Wilfried Bony, Mame Diouf, Bojan and Jonathan Walters all preferred by Mark Hughes to fill the troublesome number nine jersey.

But the Welshman turned back to Crouch during the festive period and he has been repaid with three goals in three straight league games.

The former Liverpool striker shot to fame ten years ago by producing his famous robot moves after scoring for England against Hungary in a World Cup warm-up match.

And, although he is yet to treat the bet365 Stadium to a repeat performance, Crouch has hinted he may mark the special occasion in style against United.

“I have had so many people asking me whether it will come back out when I get my 100th goal,” he said.

“They are telling me that I have to do it and to be fair, the pressure is taking its toll – maybe it will come out, we will see.

“People still talk about it now but at the time it was just a bit of fun, and all of a sudden ten years on, people are still talking about it.

“I only actually ever did it twice for England and people seemed to enjoy it so I’m sure I’ll dust it off at some stage.

“I think half of the reason people enjoyed it was because I wasn’t that good at it, so maybe I should start practising a little bit.”
