Success hopes for return to Watford first-team after injury nightmare

Watford striker Isaac Success has had a torrid time with injury in recent weeks and admits that frustration is starting to set in.

The 21-year-old striker has been restricted to two substitute appearances in the last 15 matches, with just a solitary start all season.

The Hornets are winless in seven Premier League games, and are 14th in the league, eight points above the relegation zone.

They travel to League One side Millwall on Sunday in the FA Cup fourth round, before a trip to the Emirates Stadium two days later to take on title hopefuls Arsenal.

Nigerian Success joined Watford from Italian side Granada in a record £12.5 million move in July 2016 but has scored just once for the Hornets since his big money move – the second in a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth at Vicarage Road in October.

However, the powerful forward is hoping that a return to the first team isn’t far away as he steps up his rehabilitation.

“I’m good and I’m getting better,” Success said. “I’m hoping to train with the team on Monday.

“It’s frustrating as I’m trying to make my name in the Premier League.

“I haven’t had the chance to impress. Everyone knows my ability but I’ve got more to offer to the fans and the team.”
