Bullish Guedioura confident of Boro survival

New Middlesbrough signing Adlene Guedioura insists he has already seen enough from his new teammates to be confident they will remain in the Premier League.

Aitor Karanka’s side are without a league win since a 3-0 victory over Swansea in December and have slipped to 16th in the table, just two points above Hull City who occupy the final relegation place.

Guedioura, 31, joined from Watford on a two-and-a-half-year deal for an undisclosed fee at the end of January and has made two substitute appearances for Boro.

But the Algerian midfielder insists he has already seen enough from his new teammates to be confident that they can fight off relegation.

He said: “I am in no doubt about this because from what I have seen already, they have given me many, many good positive vibes.

“When you see the team they are strong defensively, we don’t concede many goals. Everyone wants to fight for each other and these are the good ingredients to stay up.

“We need one or two goals and it will change everything. It is important to have this first and then I believe we are going to stay up and have another season in the Premier League.”
