Foster eyeing up 50-point mark for Baggies
Ben Foster is setting his sights on 50 points after the goalkeeper helped West Brom move a step closer to that goal with a battling point at West Ham.
West Brom needed a 94th-minute goal from Gareth McAuley to draw 2-2 at the London Stadium.
The result means the Baggies stay eighth in the Premier League and move on to 37 points, three away from that magic mark that more often than not guarantees safety.
But as soon as they reach that mark, Foster is adamant West Brom can aim even higher under manager Tony Pulis.
“We’d like to get to 40 points as soon as possible,” said Foster.
“The target now for us is 50 points and a top-half finish. That would be a very good season for us.
“Once we’ve got past 40 we can really push on get to 50 points for the first time.”
As for the result against the Hammers, Foster felt the late show demonstrated what the Baggies are all about this season.
“I think in the end a point was a fair result,” added Foster. “In the first-half we did quite well, created a few chances, and hit the crossbar after going 1-0 up.
“We’re happy with the result. When we went 1-0 up we knew we’d be facing an onslaught from West Ham, we expected it.
“They’re a good team and a point here is not a bad result.
“We fought and we never gave in, we kept going to the end and that’s what got us a point.”
