Jose Holebas: Watford can do better

Jose Holebas believes Watford need to focus entirely on themselves if they are to guarantee their spot in the top half of the Premier League this season.

In a congested mid-table battle, Watford sit 13th and are ten points clear of the relegation zone.

A scrap to stay in the top flight now seems unlikely, but with just two points separating five teams that are on the brink of breaking into the top half of the table, Holebas insists every point is vital from here on in.

“In my opinion we have left a lot of points behind too easily, and we now have to look at ourselves and make sure we really concentrate in every game,” he said.

“That’s very important for us at the moment. Home games are really important for every team and we must focus now as we’ve been struggling a bit in our away games.

“But we will handle the last period of the season really well now. We need to just look at ourselves and not the other teams around us.

“We have to treat every game like it’s a final now. My aim is to get into the first ten in the table. At the beginning we were doing really well, but we dropped.

“It’s so tight that if you win you jump up but if you lose you drop. But the team all know we can do much better.”
