Mazzarri pleased with Cleverley and Niang impact

Watford boss Walter Mazzarri has been delighted by the positive impact made by loan signings Tom Cleverley and M’Baye Niang.

Niang has made an impression since joining from AC Milan and Mazzari is said to appreciate his versatility being able to play on either flank of the midfield.

Despite a 2-0 loss at Old Trafford on Saturday, Watford sit 12th in the Premier League ten points clear of the relegation zone.

And Cleverley, who arrived from Everton for his second loan spell at Vicarage Road, has also been praised by the Italian manager, following wins in two of their last three league outings.

“I want to say how Cleverley has surprised me in how well he has managed to settle into our team,” said the Hornets boss.

“It’s like he has been playing with us for a very long time.”

And the possibility of making Cleverley’s loan deal permanent at the end of the season was welcomed by Mazzarri.

“It would make me very happy if he stays with us,” he added. “It is important he keeps playing well and I don’t see there will be any problems.

“He’s a very young player and didn’t play as much at his previous team.”
