Moyes hopes trip to Big Apple can turn Sunderland’s season around
Sunderland manager David Moyes hopes a team-bonding trip to New York can be the turning point in his side’s season after another disastrous defeat.
Southampton ran riot at the Stadium of Light as Manolo Gabbiadini bagged a brace in a comfortable 4-0 win on Saturday, leaving Sunderland rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table.
Following last week’s 4-0 win at Bournemouth, Moyes was confident the tables were about to turn but this latest setback is a major hammer blow.

The Black Cats have struggled all season and look like they might finally drop into the Championship after five difficult years.
They have two weeks off before their next match, a trip to Goodison Park to play Everton, and Moyes will take his side to New York for four nights – flying out on Monday.
And the Scotsman hopes the trip will help the squad to gel together ahead of the final few months.
“As a manager you make decisions, you try and lead your team and football club and do the right things,” said Moyes.
“You have to stand by the decisions. It won’t change [our plans]. Sometimes things like that help.”
