Watford’s Capoue excited for rare weekend off

Despite winning two of their last three Premier League games, Watford midfielder Etienne Capoue is relishing a rare weekend off.

The FA Cup fifth round takes centre stage this weekend but the Hornets are out of the competition after their defeat to League One side Millwall in the last round.

As a result their next fixture isn’t until February 25 against West Ham.

Watford had struggled at the beginning of 2017, but prior to their 2-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford last Saturday; Walter Mazzarri’s men had enjoyed 2-1 victories over Burnley and Arsenal and are sat comfortably in 13th place, ten points clear of the relegation places.

But with Watford having played nine games already since the turn of the year, the 28-year-old Frenchman is enjoying the prospect of a more relaxing weekend.

“I think we needed this break,” said Capoue, who has played in every Premier League game this season.

“We have played a lot of games and we need it so that the mind will be ready for our next game.

“We have some days off now so we will try and enjoy these with our families to be back, ready and fresh for our next match.”
