Zarate answers Mazzari’s siren call to Hornets
Mauro Zarate has admitted the lure of a return to the Premier League to play for the experienced Walter Mazzari was too much to resist when Watford came calling in January.
The striker – who previously had spells with West Ham and Birmingham – signed for the Hornets from Fiorentina for £2.3m and made his debut in the 2-1 victory over Burnley last weekend.
Zarate says his personal relationship with the Italian coach and the prestige of the Premier League played a large part in his decision to join the club.

“I had the chance to come here to Watford and I’m very happy because the Premier League for me is the best league in the world,” said Zarate.
“The gaffer is an Italian coach and I know him as well so I wanted to play for Watford and I’m pleased to get another chance to play in the Premier League. The club has been very good with me as well here.
“We had a good start (against Burnley) and I’m very happy with the way I’m playing. More than that, I’m happy with the team getting three points – that’s more important.
“It was a very important game against a team more or less where we are. It was very important for us to get three points.”
