Alli happy to play anywhere for Spurs
Tottenham’s Dele Alli would be happy to step in to play up front during Harry Kane’s injury-enforced absence but admits he prefers to operate from a more familiar midfield role.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has used Alli in advanced roles this season either just behind the striker, on the left of a front three and even up top for periods of the second half in the victory over Southampton.
Alli has scored 18 goals for club and country this term and his finishing could prove vital during Kane’s absence, which is expected to be four to six weeks.

“I enjoy playing in the No.10 role but I’m happy to play anywhere in this team,” Alli said.
“If the manager wants to push me a bit higher in some games I’m happy to do that but I am a midfielder so I enjoy playing everywhere.
“I think all the boys feel extra responsibility.
“‘H’ is a fantastic striker who can get a goal from nothing so as soon as he got injured we knew it was important we all stepped up and chipped in with the goals.
“He’ll keep supporting us from off the pitch and we’ll just keep trying to carry on and get the points.”
