Eriksen plans long-term future with Spurs

Christian Eriksen has no plans to leave White Hart Lane after establishing himself as a key figure in Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham side.

The Danish international signed a new contract earlier this season, with Spurs getting long-term commitments from the vast majority of first choice players including Dele Alli, Harry Kane and skipper Hugo Lloris.

This season Eriksen has been one of the key men in helping Spurs to second in the Premier League table, with ten goals and 16 assists in all competitions.

And having arrived at Spurs following the departure of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid, Eriksen believes Tottenham have changed status as a club in that time.

He said: “I have honestly not thought about (leaving).

“I live in the present. Right now, there are still more than three years left on my contract.

“I feel great here and I really like being at Tottenham.

“The starting point was different when Bale was sold. At that time Tottenham used to battle for sixth and seventh.

“Now our plan is to be at the top every season. Today there is much less chance that those sorts of profiles will be sold.

“Many players have extended their contracts and want to be part of the future project.”
