Jeff Reine-Adelaide inspired by Thierry Henry

Arsenal youngster Jeff Reine-Adelaide has revealed how the Gunners’ record goalscorer Thierry Henry has helped him settle into life with his club and in England.

The French teenager signed for Arsenal from Lens in the summer before last season and has so far made eight senior appearances across the two domestic cup competitions.

Midfielder Reine-Adelaide grew up idolising Henry, who scored 228 goals for Arsenal between 1999 and 2007, during which time he won two Premier League titles and three FA Cups.

Since arriving at the Emirates Stadium, Reine-Adelaide has been coached by Henry at Under-19 level in the UEFA Youth League and he is also appreciative of the help he has been given off the pitch.

“All players and children should look at how Henry and Robert Pires conduct themselves nowadays because they are exemplary,” Reine-Adelaide said.

“They are straightforward, always ready to chat with us and have a laugh. They spend a lot of time with the young players, talking things through and giving advice.

“Away from the pitch, I’ve gone out for a meal with Thierry Henry two or three times and he is a really great guy. He has always been very supportive to me and I am grateful to him for that.”
