Mawson: Swans can’t dwell on Hull defeat

Alfie Mawson insists Swansea City must move on quickly after suffering a 2-1 defeat to relegation rivals Hull City in the Premier League.

The Swans could have gone nine points clear of their opponents with a victory but instead sit just three points above the dreaded relegation zone.

Mawson’s side sit 16th in the league table but could slip closer to Hull if Crystal Palace take advantage of their game in hand.

And the defender conceded that the Welsh outfit didn’t match their recent high standards at the KCOM Stadium.

“It’s tight around the relegation zone. There is a small gap between us, but it’s all about what we do from this point forward,” he said.

“Now we have to dust ourselves down and make sure we are ready for next week. It is disappointing because it was an opportunity to move further away from a team near us in the table.

“We didn’t play as well as we have been, and we failed to take our chances while they did.  Performances like that have to go out the window.

“We suffered a few injuries during the game and although we have the quality to deal with that we didn’t show it.”
