Noble: It has been the toughest few months of my West Ham career

West Ham’s move to the London Stadium was supposed to spark an exciting new era in east London, but captain Mark Noble says it has easily been the hardest few months of his career.

The Hammers initially struggled to adjust to life after Upton Park with home wins hard to come by in Stratford, and in January star player Dimitri Payet left the club after a tense few weeks.

Manager Slaven Bilic was even linked with the sack and at times there were genuine fears they club could slip into a relegation battle.

But since then, they have turned their form round and Noble thinks the players deserve a huge amount of credit after battling through a tough period.

“It’s probably been the hardest [period] of my West Ham career because we’ve had so much to deal with off the pitch,” Noble said.

“Obviously the move to the new stadium, the Dimi situation, so much has gone on and we lost four of our best players to injury in pre-season, which is hard to replace.

“You’ve got to stick at it, the players have dug in and though we’ve lost a couple of games, in this day and age you’re not allowed to lose games.”
